Industrial hygiene (IH) and occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals care about their communities. Case in point: the American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF).
AIHF advances the profession by awarding scholarships for funding education and professional development in industrial hygiene and related disciplines. Since 1982, AIHF has distributed nearly $2 million to 680 students studying industrial hygiene and related disciplines across 54 different schools and universities. These scholarships have enabled talented students to complete their education and have encouraged the most promising scholars to enter or remain in the industrial hygiene profession.
Over three decades ago, AIHA started the annual Fun Run/Walk at AIHce EXP to benefit the Foundation. It’s yet another way for our attendees to let loose, get some exercise, and support the next generation of IH and OEHS professionals.
Participants can run the 5K or walk the 2.5K, all while helping AIHF support students in need of financial aid. In fact, the Fun Run is one of the most popular events at the conference. Attendees have been known to get teams together, bring their children in strollers along for the event, and even coordinate with some fun and wacky accessories!
Not an early riser? You can still contribute. Simply register as a “Sleep In” entry and receive a commemorative T-shirt without leaving the comfort of your bed. There are lots of other ways to support AIHF and the Fun Run/Walk too, so be sure to take advantage of those when you register online. For more details on this fun-filled event, visit us here. We hope to see you there!
Thank you to all of the generous sponsors who have helped make the AIHF Fun Run/Walk possible.
